New installation for grain product processors
Location: Kleinbettingen - Luxembourg
A new building with three new production lines will be set up for the production of new products. This requires a new steam boiler plant with a total capacity of 7,000 kg/h, to be realized in two phases: phase 1 anticipates an immediate need of 4,190 kg/h, while phase 2 covers a future demand of 2,810 kg/h (beyond the current scope). However, limited boiler room space poses a challenge. In addition, a large amount of very hot water is required for the CIP processes in production. The existing production facility has so far been supplied with steam by an aging Loos boiler with a capacity of 1,300 kg/h on light fuel oil. Since no connection to the gas grid is available and the current boiler and burner are in an outdated condition, operational reliability has been reduced.
BBC, present at the site for many years for maintenance and service, supported the customer in finding an alternative solution for steam production using a fuel other than light fuel oil. The goal is to supply steam to both the new production facility and the existing plant through a new steam piping network. Creos, Luxembourg’s natural gas supplier, agreed to extend the gas pipelines to the front of the plant for customers to connect to. In addition, proposals were made to redesign and modify the boiler house construction plans, including the addition of an additional floor for a second boiler in Phase 2, and the installation of steam exchangers for the direct production of hot water for CIP processes.
