New steam installation with larger capacities and meeting strict emission standards.

In just about every sector today, efforts are being made to reduce emissions of harmful greenhouse gases. Alternatives to fossil fuels as a source of energy are also being sought in abundance for the production of process heat. This evolution had already begun several decades ago and is accelerating every year due to greater awareness.
However, it is since the war in Ukraine erupted in early 2022 that it became painfully clear how dependent we and our industry still are on fossil fuels. The last year made it clear that a switch to alternatives is not obvious and collides with many obstacles.
And yet, during this period, BBC NV together with Bosch Industriekessel GmbH explicitly profiled itself as the partner of choice to look for the best suitable solution for your company to reduce that dependence on fossil fuels as much as possible.
“Sustainable heat, industrial experts”
“Sustainable heat, industrial experts” is the motto of both Bosch and BBC in this regard. BBC wants to offer solutions for green steam and hot water production to help its customers in their success story. The solutions we can offer for this are not only energy-saving but are also able to produce heat with alternative and ecological energy sources.
Our expertise and that of our partners in just about every area from project planning, execution and delivery to after-sales service ensure that Bosch is chosen as a partner worldwide.
BBC is therefore committed to 3 pillars:
- Modernization
- Alternative fuels
- Electrification
Boilers, both for steam and hot water production, will continue to play an important role in the new energy landscape. By modernizing existing installations, we can already take important steps in energy savings. BBC has years of experience not only in the installation of steam boilers but also in the maintenance and follow-up of these installations. So it knows better than anyone else where the improvement potential lies for existing installations! By applying the best available technologies, existing installations can be updated so that they are back in the best of class for years to come.
A striking evolution over the past year, the main cause of which is the situation between Ukraine and Russia and the resulting exponential increase in gas prices, is the return of many companies to fuel oil as their fuel. Obviously, the choice companies are making here is mainly driven by economic motives. BBC is not leaving these customers, who have no short-term alternative, out in the cold. The fuel oil burners or combi burners that BBC provides for such conversion projects meet the strictest emission regulations to keep the impact on the environment as low as possible. In addition, Bosch has for years had the technology to equip its steam boilers with additional energy-saving measures such as economizers that are also suitable to work with these fuel oil burners.
In these uncertain times, it is not always easy for a company to make large investments for new installations. With our rental boilers that can run on both natural gas and fuel oil, we help our customers bridge this period, with our rental boilers also meeting the most stringent environmental requirements at the moment.
However, we can go much further and try to eliminate fossil fuels completely. Bosch boilers are designed to be usable with different types of fuel including green alternatives such as biogases and even hydrogen. Although the use of biogas has a number of implications, Bosch boilers can deal with it provided the right burner technology is applied. BBC has thus been able to realize some nice projects in recent years using biogases in combination with natural gas as fuel.
Another potential that often remains underused is the use of process gases as fuel. A good example of this is hydrogen, which is released as a byproduct of a number of chemical processes. By capturing this and using it as an energy source in the steam and heat production that these chemical processes often require, an immediate gain can be made. BBC together with Bosch is investing heavily to further support these customers in the future in their search for the best-fit technology.
Although hydrogen is far from being available to everyone today, we are seeing all kinds of developments to make this possible in the future. This is why all new boilers from Bosch are already “Hydrogen Ready” and ready to use hydrogen as a fuel in the future to produce 100% climate-neutral steam.
What companies do have easier access to today is electricity. Although electricity production is still strongly linked to fossil fuels (gas, oil, coal), we are seeing a strong increase in green electricity generated by wind and sun. Electrification is taking place in almost all sectors, and heat production is no exception. For the past three years, Bosch has a complete range of electric steam boilers with capacities ranging from 350 kg/h to 7 ton/h based on low-voltage resistance elements (400-630V). These resistance elements can also be built into conventional boilers to form so-called hybrid boilers that switch smoothly between electric heating and conventional fuels for increased flexibility.
Bosch
Bosch electric boilers have a number of features worth considering. For example, the boilers have a wide modulation range and can be started up very quickly, making them ideal for backup and standby applications. Due to the absence of fuel and flue gases, they are emission-free and require a lot less maintenance.
For higher capacities, however, low-voltage power is not so suitable, but BBC and its partners can provide a solution there too. Using compact high-voltage electrode boilers, steam productions of up to 60ton/h can be achieved! At sites where electricity is generated by themselves today, they are the ideal partner to absorb peaks in power production given the large buffer capacity of steam boilers and can thus balance the power grid.
It is thanks to this multi-faceted approach that BBC can rightly claim to be ready for the future!
